Router woes

To anyone who isn't familiar with the term, a "router" is a major part of a home network.  Without going into boring details, it takes your internet connection, and tells all your computers how to access it.  It also tells your computers how to talk to each other.  Without it, you have no internet.

This wouldn't effect most families, who have a single modem and a single computer.  But we aren't most families!  The media center now cannot access the pictures, videos, and music on the server.  The main PC can't access the internet.  My phone can't synch with the network (without me plugging in downstairs).

I know this is usually a family blog, but this is something effecting the family (Melissa: "Wait, you mean there's no internet ALL DAY?").

You sort of forget how much you take broadband connectivity for granted.  Perfect case in point is the router crashing.  My first thought was "Oh, I'll just remote into from here at work and fix it."  Yeah, no go.

So, remember our family in your thoughts and prayers today and tonight as we struggle to get back online.  Thanks!
