Midwest Trip Days 8 & 9: North Dakota, Wyoming, & Home

We left Omaha on the 7th, and continued our trek West. Most of the day was spent just driving and trying to pass the miles. We stopped and had lunch at Applebee's in North Platte, Nebraska, and then drove over to check out Fort Cody. There wasn't a lot to see there, but they had a gigantic gift shop that we roamed around in for about an hour. We got back on the road, and made it to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We had decided that we were getting sick of cheap motels, so we splurged that night and got rooms at the Little America Hotel. Surprisingly, they were only $79!! We had a really nice dinner in the restaurant at the hotel that night, and then relished the comfort of decent beds.

The next morning, we started out with breakfast at Village Inn. I think the waitress got a bit of a kick out of the fact that we all ordered pie after our breakfasts! This day was by far the longest and most boring day of the entire trip. There is absolutely nothing to see in Wyoming, and since we were only about 8 hours or so from home, we just pushed right on through. We got home around 8 pm that night. It was so nice to be home in the dry weather again, and not living out of suitcases anymore!

I think Alexander had been in the car a little too long...
