Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was a little crazy schedule-wise, but in our opinion, it was perfect! The season for us this year seemed very low stress, since 95% of our shopping was done before Thanksgiving. It helped us be able to relax and enjoy the month of December.

The way our schedules ended up, we didn't get Tyler or Kaiden until later in the afternoon on Christmas, so we switched things around a little bit. On Christmas Eve, we took Addison and went down to my parent's house. My mom made homemade chicken noodle soup, and had a million appetizers for us to munch on. It was SO yummy! I think that Zuke's favorite part was the huge platter of steamed shrimp.....he was being "helpful" and cleaned up the entire plate! After dinner, we all gathered around the table and played "Apples To Apples"....our new favorite game! It's always a hoot playing with my family, especially my dad.

Christmas morning, Zuke and I actually got to sleep in until 8. It was wonderful! We stayed in our pajamas and headed down to my parents house for breakfast. Every Christmas, my mom makes big batches of german pancakes. YUMMY! After breakfast, we went downstairs to open presents. Zuke and I decided to open ours then, instead of waiting for the boys. We got totally spoiled by my family, and got a lot of fun and useful things. We came back home for a while so that Addison could take a nap and I could go get Tyler. Later that evening, we went down to my parent's house (again!) for dinner and to let the boys open their presents. We waited quite a while for Kaiden, and Tyler just about jumped out of his pants when he finally got there and they could open their presents! The boys and Addison were utterly spoiled by my family, and they had a great time!

The day after Christmas was turned into our Christmas Day. Zuke's mom came down from Scofield, and we all opened our presents from Santa. The kids must have been extra good this year, because it seemed like our living room was overflowing with gifts. It is so much fun seeing how excited the kids get over all of their gifts, and especially how excited they get in giving gifts to others. It was wonderful! After all the gifts were opened, Zuke and I got to work cooking our first Christmas dinner. We had been brining a turkey, so we cooked that with all of the yummy trimmings. My parents came over to join us for dinner, and it was absolutely delicious!

It's been wonderful to have this extended time with our family all together. We're loving starting new traditions with our children, and seeing how much they enjoy the holidays. Happy Holidays!

It sounds like a fabulous Christmas had by all! I can't wait to have some kids around here to make Christmas a little more exciting. There's nothing as wonderful as a kid on Christmas!
