So last Friday, I got this crazy and amazing opportunity to do a live interview on The Daily Dish on Channel 4! A couple months ago, I had responded to a post on Facebook about the pressure that women feel to be "the perfect mom". My comment said something about how we all likely feel that pressure, and I mentioned something about my CMT and how even though I have a disability, the same pressures and expectations are still there. No biggie, right? Well, I ended up getting a phone call from one of the show's producers about a week later, asking if I would be willing to be a part of this week-long special that they were putting together. I was shocked! Of course I said yes, though I didn't know what all it would entail.
The last week of March, the producer and a camera woman came to our house and did a recorded interview with me, and filmed me playing with the kids for a bit. The interview was actually really fun, and I thought it went really well. I thought that was all I would have to do, until I got the call a couple weeks ago with the request to do the live interview. Honestly, I was a bit freaked out! I've never done any live tv, which was stressful enough, but the interview also fell on the same day that I was running the CMTA booth at the craft fair. After a bit of juggling with the kids, and getting someone to cover the booth for me, I was ready!
This is the green room.....pretty cool, huh?
The tv studio was really cool! It was fun to see where things like the news were filmed, and to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff. I think my interview went really well, and I was really happy that I got to mention CMT a bit and raise a little bit of awareness!
