Memorial Day Weekend

Our Memorial Day weekend was filled with great weather, yummy food, and lots of family.  It started out with a trip to the cemetery Sunday afternoon to take flowers to my Grandpa Wilson's grave.  I love being able to take my kids there, especially because all of them but Alexis actually remember him.  He served our country in WWII, and I am so proud of that heritage and for the chance I have to remember and honor him!

Monday afternoon, we had the pleasure of hosting Zuke's Great Aunt & Uncle, Rose and Jack, for lunch at our house.  They are in Utah visiting Zuke's mom, and I have never had the chance to meet them before, so we jumped at the chance to have them over for a while.  They are such fun, loving people!  They have young granddaughters of their own, so they took to Addison and Alexis perfectly!  Zuke grilled some marinated chicken and teriyaki beef, and we also had fresh fruit, shrimp salad, and corn on the cob....all our favorite barbecue foods!  We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting, and were so sad when they had to leave.  I think a plan to head up to Oregon to pay them a visit might be in the works!

A little later, we headed down to my parents' house for another barbecue.  More yummy food and hanging out with family?  Yes, please!!  I should also note that the weather was absolutely PERFECT all day.  I love this time of year, and Memorial Day was the perfect start to what I know will be an awesome summer!
