Camping

Every year since I was about 5 years old, my family has taken a week or two each summer and gone camping up at Payson Lake. Some of my fondest childhood memories took place while we were camping, so I've made it a point every summer to take my kids up to join my parents for a day or so up the canyon. The past couple years, Zuke has taken Kaiden and Tyler with him to spend a night up there, and then Addison and I join everyone the next morning. The boys love the chance to spend a night in a tent, and love that nobody is going to get mad at them for playing with sticks and getting all dirty for a day. Addison was old enough (and bold enough) this year to be able to follow her brothers around playing in the dirt, and she loved it! After lunch, we all headed down to the lake. Kaiden and Addison were still very wary about getting into the lake, but Tyler was much better about it this year. They all loved joining grandma and grandpa for a boat ride around the lake, though. After we were all worn out from the lake, we had a yummy dinner of hamburgers, hot dogs, marinated chicken, dutch oven potatoes, corn on the cob, and shrimp salad. All of my favorites! We roasted marshmallows before it got too dark, and headed back down the canyon with 3 completely exhausted children.
