September Recap

Our September recap actually starts on August 31st. I had entered a contest online for a discounted stay up at the Inn on The Creek, and I won! We decided to use it the night before my birthday (September 1st), once the whole move of Zuke's company was over. It was nice to get away for even just a night. Zuke's mom was kind enough to watch Addison for us (on her own birthday!), and dealt with all of the drama of us leaving her for the night for the first time. I picked Zuke up from work, and after dropping off our bags at the inn, we drove back down to Sundance and had a lovely dinner on the outdoor patio. We had the most amazing calamari and tortilla soup, and some delicious pasta. Instead of ordering dessert there, we drove further back down the canyon and bought some chocolates to take back to the inn with us. It was so nice to just be able to relax with each other without kids for once!

The next day, after relieving Debra from her babysitting duties, we drove up to Salt Lake to pick up Zuke's brother, Ryo. Ryo and Debra both share the same birthday, the day before mine, so we got together for a triple-birthday dinner at the Porcupine Pub and Grill. Ryo had been telling us how amazing the food was, and he was right! It was so delicious! It was such a fun way to spend my birthday.

On September 3rd, Tyler started kindergarten. I can't believe he is old enough to be doing that already! He was so excited! He loves his teacher, Mrs. Wright, and is doing very well. His scores are at the top of his class, and he is testing at a much higher level in some areas. We are so proud of him!

On September 15th, we celebrated Kaiden's 4th birthday. We went bowling as a family the night before his birthday, and had such a fun time. I'm ashamed to admit that both of the boys beat my score by quite a bit. We opened presents and had pizza, and just an all-around good time. The following Saturday we held a birthday party for him with our friends and extended family. Kaiden wanted a race car party, so we helped the kids build and decorate race cars out of cardboard boxes. We gave them all of their race car "swag", and played some games with them. Then we handed out their racing awards, opened presents, and had cake and ice cream. Kaiden loved his party, and everyone seemed to have a really good time.
