School Days

We are back to school! Well, Zuke is anyway. This plan has been in the works since last July, when we filled out all of the admission papers and FAFSA applications. We figured that since we had gotten such a head start on everything, that the rest would just be a breeze. Boy, were we wrong!

We got Zuke's admission letter quite quickly, and were just waiting for the FAFSA information to come through. We checked the status when we hadn't heard anything in late October, and apparently it was still processing. Well, come the end of November, we were getting really anxious about the whole thing, so Zuke calls the school. Apparently, when they processed his admissions application, they switched his last name with his first name. Ugh! Then come to find out, they'd had his FAFSA information back for MONTHS, but because some retard in admissions screwed up his name, they never matched the FAFSA info with his school records. Double UGH!!!

So, as Zuke is starting his first week at his new job (the week before Christmas, by the way), we're jumping through all of the financial aid hoops to get the money in, and were guaranteed the money before school started. Did that actually happen? Not a chance. Let's just say that I believe that some of the people in the financial aid department at UVU are highly incompetent. We finally received the money ( two weeks later) and are just waiting on all of the books that we ordered.

On a lighter note, Zuke is loving school! And I am loving helping him out! I think that it's encouraged me to go back to school in the fall. We're excited that we're finally on the path to Zuke getting his degree. It will be a long road, but we're sure it will be worth it!

I always found the FAFSA stuff to be quite the hassle, and never ended up filling the paperwork out all of the way. There are so many hoops! But I am glad it is all working out now, and that he is enjoying school. There is nothing better than the feeling that you are working toward something! Good luck to both of you!
