Baby Contest

I'm honestly still not sure how, but somehow Amanda talked me into entering Alexis into the Freedom Festival Baby Contest this year.  I had always thought I would be the mom who would never enter her kids into baby contests or pageants...but I guess I was wrong!

The baby contest was yesterday, June 23 at UVU.  Amanda had taken Lila to be judged earlier in the morning, and Addison, Alexis and I met them at UVU right before the first awards ceremony.  Unfortunately, Lila did not place in her age division, and this was Alexis' face throughout most of the ceremony...

Things were not looking good so far.  We left the ballroom, and I got Alexis all changed into her outfit.....

I wish I had gotten more pictures of her in her whole outfit!  We had put a cute yellow headband on, and put mousse in her hair to make it SO curly.  She was adorable!  Amanda came out and painted her toenails, and we were ready to go to the judging.  I had thought that she was in a much better mood and would do just fine, but I was dead wrong!  The second I set her down in front of the judge, she started screaming bloody murder!!  Ugh...that was not how I had wanted it to happen.  The judge was really nice, and kept trying to make Alexis smile, but she was not having any of it.  I think she finally smiled at the judge as we were walking away....what a stinker!

We had a bit of time before the last awards ceremony, so we all went and got lunch at the food court before heading to the ballroom.  On our way back, we stopped to see the lady that was doing balloon animals for all the kids.  Addison decided on a purple flower with an orange stem, and we got the little girls some flower bracelets....which they both promptly tried to eat!  We also ran into Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Ariel, so of course Addison needed a picture with them!

We stopped at a couple more booths on our way into the ballroom, and then found our seats.  The second ceremony was pretty much just the same as the first.  I was not surprised that Alexis didn't place, due to the glorious tantrum that she threw, but I was still a tiny bit disappointed.  All in all though, it was a fun experience.  And who knows...maybe we'll be brave and try another one sometime soon!
